2nd Weigh-in and Starting Pictures...

Eeek! Is it time to weigh in again?! Ok, so I'll be honest. I exercised once...and that was only like a few crunches and leg exercises...and then I realized how out of shape I was and wanted to eat a bunch of cookies because of it. I know it doesn’t make sense! Hahaha! Even worse, I really did eat more cookies this week then any human should consume in a year...yikes!

Alright, so this week I'm hoping the weather gets better so the boys and I can go outside and walk and play. However, this is Germany, so I can't count on that. I need a plan in case it rains or is cold. So, I looked in our video drawer and found 4 workout DVD's - two of which have never been opened - one of which I attempted once and didn't make it through any of it and the other I think I've done twice since I lived in Bradley (that was 6 years ago!) Two of them take equipment I don't have, so that leaves two possibilities for now. So here is my plan:

Monday: Pilates via Suzanne Deason's Pilates Conditioning for Weight Loss DVD

Tuesday: Stomach, Legs and Arms (Strength Training)

Wednesday: Cardio via Denise Austin's Burn Fat Fast DVD

Thursday: Stomach, Legs and Arms (Strength Training)

Friday: Cardio via Denise Austin's Burn Fat Fast DVD

Saturday: Pilates via Suzanne Deason's Pilates Conditioning for Weight Loss DVD

Sunday: Off (secretly hoping the weather will be good for a nice long walk)

The hardest part is going to be finding a time to exercise. Though Luke goes to bed in the evening and generally stays asleep – Will does not. I suppose I could get up super early…but that just makes me tired thinking about it. I’ll have to try a few different times out and see how far I can get before Will demands to be held.

Diet wise my main goal is no cookies. LOL! Ok, so my real main goal is to cut out the massive consumption of sweets. I didn't let myself buy any when I went to the grocery store (well, I did buy Luke some fig newtons, but I won't eat those.) Instead I bought oranges, strawberries, bananas and plums.

Ok, so here is my weigh-in:

Sunday, April 20, 2008 - 146 lbs (don't ask me how I managed to lose 1 pound!)

Pounds Lost to Date: 1

Before Pictures: Taken on April 16, 2008

Alrighty! I'll let you know how this week goes - it can't go any worse then last week! Hahaha!

Yeah for one pound!!! Boo for cookies..=) haha......Your schedule sounds good. Do the boys take a nap in the afternoon at all? Will Luke sit and play while you exercise? Maybe you can get him to pretend to exercise with you? =) Like you said, you will just have to try different things.....

Keep up the good work - Think healthy thoughts!! =) - Teniah

LOL - SO...cookies this week for Jenny... :-) I had no idea that was the way to lose weight! :-) If I had, I would have started LONG ago!

Have you tried using Will to exercise to add resistance? You can do crunches with him on your tummy or plies (I know - it's spelled wrong...) while holding him.

Keep up the good work! It is HARD to loose the weight after two kids in two years (I'm with you there). It took me until Liam was three/Cole was four. You have one up on me starting MUCH sooner than I did. I didn't even know you have any kids let alone two! How time flies. Too bad you guys couldn't have ended up in Hawaii when we were there. That would have been nice. Sigh, oh well. Shoot me an e-mail if/when you get a chance (shottsohana@comcast.net). It has been way too long (Dec 2004 in P.Hill. Yikes, that was 3.5 years ago). Take care and good luck!

Hey girl! You look really good. As a point of comparison - not that you're asking for one - I gained 30 pounds with Max and still have 13 pounds to lose but I gave birth a whole three months before you.

You have inspired me to start working out and getting more exercise. I am also trying to cut sweets but I swear it is like trying to cut my arm off.

One thought for you in terms of being successful and feeling motivated by your success rather than discouraged by not reaching your goals. Have you thought about scaling it back a bit on your goals? I look at your plan and think *WOW* she's got a lot going on!

I found that I just couldn't find the time to exercise every day (and I've got Dan around to help) but once I gave myself permission to do a smaller (and set) amount of strength training every day I've been more likely to do it. Seriously, I do 100 overhead claps, 50 squats and 50 leg lifts. Looking to put in push-ups starting May. Also, if you sit on the balance/birthing ball as much as possible you'll help strengthen your core muscles. The more I do the better I get at building it in. And some days I add more and feel really good about it.

Also, I don't know if Will is still in the Moby but squats in the Moby are really effective!

Don't kill yourself - you are doing really well to just keep moving with those boys and cut the cookies. =)

Signed,
Still trying to get in shape after six months and only 1 baby. =)

Hi Mindy,

I'm Shottsie's sister! She told me about your weight loss blog and I wanted to take a peek! A week ago I started a 6 week challenge. I want to lose 10 pounds by the end of the 6 weeks. So how did I do after the first week? I was UP! Oops. Wrong way!!!! Good luck to you and I'll be checking back in for some encouragement and inspiration!
